The Lucky Clover Trading Company Gives Back to the Community, Donating Baskets to

The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc.

Benicia, CA—The Lucky Clover Trading Co., a division of Kingsum, Inc., announced today they are donating baskets to The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to children living with diabetes, offering camps on a year round basis, as well as educational programs. In addition to assisting children living with diabetes, it also helps families of the children deal with the disease. The donation of baskets will be used to create gift baskets for their 11th annual silent auction on October 27th, 2012. Proceeds from the auction will be used to set up a scholarship program for children with Type 1 diabetes to be able to attend camp.

Located in North Oxford, Massachusetts, and named after Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, the Barton Center’s mission is “to improve the lives of children with insulin-dependent diabetes through education, recreation, and support programs which inspire and empower.” What began as a camp for inner-city youths in 1925, evolved into a camp for children with diabetes after insulin was discovered. Programs such as the Clara Barton Resident Camp for girls, Camp Joslin for boys, coed Adventure Programs, Family Programs, as well as coed Day Camps located in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

“One thing that I feel makes this organization unique is that the people involved in the organization are professionals, such as endocrinologists, nurse educators, dietitians, mental health professionals, and well-trained counselors,” says associate Rachelle Gutschenritter. “Many of them have diabetes themselves and serve as role models to the kids.” While the primary focus of the diabetes programs is to offer fun and support, The Barton Center’s goal is to educate children and families manage diabetes day by day, so that all involved live better and healthier.

The Lucky Clover Trading Company is excited about giving back and is thrilled that their donation of baskets will help with The Barton Center’s 11th annual silent auction fundraiser in order to help children and their families attend camp. The company will select one charitable non-profit organization to donate to every month. This program is open to non-profit organizations locally and nationally and The Lucky Clover Trading Co. encourages those qualified to apply.
