The good thing about this color of the year that was chosen by Pantone is that it is versatile and sophisticated. The amount of contrast the navy color has works well with both traditional and modern home styles. This color works in any room in the home, providing a regal look.

Rattan and wicker furniture and decor for the indoors

No longer used for outdoors, wicker and rattan chairs and tables are going inside. Selecting certain pieces and pairing the wicker and rattan with other mixed materials adds a classic and laid-back look. Bar carts and headboards are also available in rattan and/or wicker. If you’re still hesitant to take this type of furniture inside, consider rattan material and wicker weave baskets for use in your home. Baskets serve as both decorative and functional, while remaining subtle to the overall look of your space.

Olive trees

Olive trees add a nice and simple accent to any area of the home. The olive branch has been long known as a symbol of abundance, glory, and peace and it’s fitting to have a tree on display at home. If you consider growing your own olive tree indoors, please make sure to select an area in your home that gets at least 6 hours of daylight. Because the tree is inside, it most likely will not grow fruit.

Thrift Store Crafting

There are many fresh finds at your local thrift store that can be repurposed and be reused. With folks becoming environmentally conscious and the need to reduce their carbon footprint, they are looking to these types of stores for that piece of home décor they can turn into something that can be reused. Pinterest has a lot of ideas on how to turn a piece of junk into a treasure. All it takes is a little creativity and patience.

Smart furniture

Home appliances and furniture are now equipped with technology to make living at home comfortable and carefree. Couches and coffee tables have USB ports, power outlets and Bluetooth speakers built into them, adding convenience while functional. Not all smart furniture has to be about technology. There are coffee tables that can convert into a large dining table for those that live in small spaces.

Why not make 2020 a year of trying something new for your home? A little redecorating can do wonders for the overall look of your home. Create a new space or enhance it with little accents here and there. Find a trend you like and go with it, but most importantly make it your own. Here’s to a new year of creating and designing!
